The Apple design on your desk, without the Apple price

Anodised aluminium machined from solid, thin bezels of equal width, a smooth back with no visible screw, a minimalist stand. This visual vocabulary belongs to nobody. Here is how it is made, what it really costs, and where the price difference goes.

CNC machined aluminium 5 mm bezels 23.5 mm thick

What makes a monitor look expensive

Three things, and none of them is the panel.

The chassis material. A mass-market monitor uses an injection-moulded plastic frame, sometimes covered with a metal-effect film. You can tell in raking light: plastic returns a soft reflection, anodised aluminium a sharp, slightly satin one. Our recent models — G27P, P27Z, P27ZB, G32P — use a machined anodised aluminium chassis.

The regularity of the bezels. On a carefully made monitor, the three visible bezels are the same width to a tenth of a millimetre. On the P27ZB they measure 5 mm. It is a costly choice: it imposes a tight assembly tolerance along the whole chain.

The back. This is the most revealing detail, because it is the one nobody is meant to see. A smooth back, with no visible screw and no decorative ventilation grille, costs more to produce than a screwed-on cover. It implies internal clips and heat dissipation thought out differently.

Where the price difference goes

Apple's monitor starts at $1,599 in its 2026 version. A G27P, at identical resolution and density, costs considerably less. The gap does not come from a cut-price chassis: it comes from specific places.

  • No camera, no speakers, no microphones. Apple's monitor carries a 12 MP camera, six speakers and three microphones. That is real hardware, and a real share of the price. We do not include them.
  • No built-in system chip. No processor dedicated to audio and video processing, and therefore no software updates to maintain.
  • No retail network. We sell directly from Europe. There is no intermediary distribution margin in the price shown.
  • A deliberate volume. We produce fewer units, but we also do not carry the cost of a worldwide range.
What that implies: if you already have a webcam and a headset — the case for most people in 2026 — you do not pay twice. If you were counting precisely on those built-in features, Apple's monitor does them better, and that is a legitimate argument.

The stand, the other visual marker

A wide black plastic stand placed under an aluminium panel ruins the whole thing. Our stands are single-column, in metal, with a compact base. Height adjustment goes up to 120 mm on the P27ZB, with 90-degree swivel to switch to portrait.

Every model accepts the VESA 100 × 100 mount. On a desk arm, the stand disappears completely and the monitor seems to float — that is the setup most studios choose. The subject is detailed in the design of Kuycon monitors.

Why this design turns up among image professionals

Estate agencies, travel agencies and photo studios do not choose a monitor for its panel alone. The monitor is visible to the client sitting opposite. A desk fitted out in consistent aluminium sends a signal; a black plastic monitor with a thick frame sends another.

It is a criterion rarely written into specifications, and yet consistently present in the final decision.

FAQ

Design and price: frequently asked questions

Is the chassis really aluminium?

Yes on the recent models — G27P, P27Z, P27ZB, G32P: machined anodised aluminium, not a metal-effect film. You can check by touch, by the temperature of the material and by the way it returns raking light.

Why does it cost less than an Apple monitor at equal resolution?

The absence of a camera, speakers, microphones and a built-in chip; direct sales with no distribution network. The panel and the chassis are not the items on which the saving is made.

How wide are the bezels?

5 mm on three sides for the P27ZB, with a chassis thickness of 23.5 mm. The three visible bezels are of equal width, which implies a tight assembly tolerance.

Can the stand be removed?

Yes: every model accepts the VESA 100 × 100 mount. On a desk arm, the column disappears and the work surface is entirely free.

Is the stand supplied?

The monitor comes with its VESA adapter and its cables. The adjustable stand is ordered in a pack or separately from €49.90, except on the G27X SE which includes it.
