How fast are the USB-C ports?
USB-C does several jobs at the same time on a monitor. Here is what each port on a Kuycon monitor actually does, so you know what to plug where.
One port, three jobs
The upstream USB-C port handles video, up to 100 W of charging and USB data for the built-in hub simultaneously. That is what lets a single cable replace a separate charger, display cable and dock.
Because the picture and the power share that connector, you connect the Mac once and everything, screen, charging and peripherals, comes to life together.
The downstream ports and the hub
The downstream USB-C and USB-A ports work as a docking hub for your Mac. Keyboards, mice, webcams and drives plug into the monitor and reach the Mac through the one upstream cable.

Yes. Plug a drive into a downstream USB port and it appears on your Mac through the single upstream cable.
Does the hub work with the laptop closed?
